best handgun for pd for camping and backcountry hiking/hunting.?
What would be the best handgun for what i listed above. I would rather have the take down power in a .45 rather then accuracy in a 9. Ive looked around but dont know what i want.
I’ll kind of echo what bear crap said. 9′s and 45′s are fine for home defense, but I feel undergunned out camping with them. It’s the subject of much debate, but personally, I don’t think the .45 offers much, if any, more stopping power than a 9.
In fact, I sold my main .45 in favor of a Super Blackhawk 44 mag, for camping. I now have a 9mm for home defense and the 44 mag for out camping, which I do one a month, rain or shine. I retain another .45 but it’s a collector and a safe queen and don’t foresee the need to use for anything more than a backup.
After owning .45′s for 20 years and holding the opinion that they are the ultimate in human defense, I’ve come down to the opinion, recently, that they’re unlikly to be any better than a 9. Bring on the thumbs down.
