How much weight does a carbon seatpost save?
I know it’s not much, but are we looking at 2 pounds? 10 pounds?
2 pounds? 10 pounds?! Both those numbers are HUGE in the bicycle industry.
If you were to compare the lightest CF seatpost with the lightest aluminum seatpost you might be surprised to find that the ALUMINUM version is lighter, by perhaps 5 to 10 grams… perhaps 1/2 an ounce. At this range, however, neither is terribly durable- something I like in seat posts.
Forget the seatpost and spend the money on lighter tires and tubes. A 1 ounce savings on each wheel equates to about a 1 POUND savings in performance.
